Middle Ground

There’s a great line in an old song that has stuck with me since I first heard it more than 20 years ago.

“Above the below and below the upper”

The song is called “I’m Alright” and I think about it often.

My entire career has been built on being in a sweet spot below the pressure cooker of the top tier and high enough above budget-oriented projects.

Being a utility player that can deliver means I get a lot of repeat business without the corresponding stress of being a flavor of the month.

My equipment inventory follows a similar template. The 50mm focal length is the ultimate middle ground of photography.

This session in University City, Missouri was a nifty fifty portrait outing that gave me exactly what I was hoping to get.
