Mayberry Municipal Airport

I seem to be immune to the bothers and indignities of the airport experience.

It helps that I avoid setting myself up for failure by not being in a hurry and trying never to be hungry when I arrive. Just in case I forget the second rule, I always have a cache of macadamia nuts at the ready in my backpack.

Add in my membership in PreCheck and Global Entry, and the fact that I never check a bag means that I can skip one of the biggest frustrations of traveling by air.

Of course, things can go haywire or off the rails. More often than not the troubles have to do with the airport itself. When you hear the word delay modified by another word like O’Hare, LaGuardia, Hartsfield or LAX you know what’s in store.

While I know it’s impossible, I would prefer to have every flight begin and end at Burbank Airport. It’s really the greatest airport in the world. Even the most gruff and cynical traveler will be softened by the casual vibe of this field.

No jetways, no lines, no stress and no hassles.

It’s the Mayberry of airports.
