I’m not a Druid but I do have an affinity for celebrating the longest day of the year. Where I live in Missouri, the summer solstice happened today.

My observation of the day was limited to taking in some vitamin D from the sun at the pool today. Truth be told, that’s my standard practice every day in the summer when I’m not on the road.  In fact, I didn’t remember that it was the solstice until I was folding up my towel.

That got me thinking about my absolute favorite solar alignment that takes place in New York City called Manhattanhenge.

Seeing the street and the sunset line up is always a thrill and the photograph above is one of the best Manhattanhenges I’ve ever captured.
