You have to be pretty talented to get hired to shoot for Hilton. I should know. Not because I’ve had the pleasure, but because a friend of mine has.
His name is Troy House and he’s one of the best photographers I know. He is adept with a camera and also a master of “progressive improvement” in every aspect of his work.
Hilton didn’t call him up one day and ask if he wanted to circle the globe and create more than a hundred ads over many years. They started slow and eventually recognized that they couldn’t live without him. Time and time again, they tapped him to shoot more and more ads.
My travels take me far and wide and I usually stay at Hilton hotels. During Troy’s reign, I would keep my eyes open for his work on display at various places in the hotel.
This picture was from the front desk at an Embassy Suites in Louisville, Kentucky. Every time I’d see one of these masterpieces I’d snap a photo and share it with him.
If you can’t see the artist in person, seeing his art is a fine consolation prize.
