Line ’Em Up

This portrait from Encinitas, California is just one of about 150 frames captured during the session.

From start to finish, I never stop trying to create as many different visual looks of each person within our allotted time.

Shapes and lines are background elements that tend to grab my attention. Once I have discovered the right setting, it’s time to physically place the subject in proximity for maximum visual impact.

The vertical lines of this blue building really struck a chord with me. The color and the physical scale were just right.

It was only after I had placed my subject in the scene that I noticed she was wearing horizontal stripes. That added the final ingredient which made the recipe work.
