Key West Tuesday

A tour guide that I met in Hawaii refers to his state as “Little America.”

I think that’s an interesting description.

It’s fair to say that there are thousands of “Little Americas” that add up to one enormous country that is constantly revealing itself to (lucky) me.

Today I drove from the plush part of Fort Lauderdale to Key West, which is the polar opposite of fancy.

It’s the same Florida and the same America. However, you’d be forgiven if you thought you were in two different dimensions.

Yet, there are countless visual cues that stitch it all together.

There was something about the flag illuminated by the setting sun that made me smile. Another day in another unlikely place that’s still home.
