Intersecting Passages

My most recent order on Amazon consisted of plastic sandwich bags, AAA batteries, and a picture frame. None of those items are made domestically.

Somewhere along the way, all of those things made a long ocean transit inside of a container ship. What a journey that must have been. Some cargo ships even have room for passengers. If solitude is what you want, that kind of cruise is just right.

A friend of mine rode from France to the Caribbean on a container ship. A trip like that can put life into perspective.

When I photographed this tug in the Port of Miami, I was heading to Mexico for vacation. I’m sure he was heading to work.

I can’t help but think that what the tugs in port see are a lot more interesting than the tourist destinations that I saw.
