I’m Not a Smiler
“I’m just going to let you know that I don’t smile.”
That’s how quite a few of my sessions started. I heard this line from executives, doctors, students, and even a few models.
The only logical response is to say, “okay.” It’s also a polite way to say, “we’ll see about that.”
It’s only a matter of time before they forget that the camera is capturing their soul. Without fail, their inhibitions will recede and I’ll get my shot.
In the digital world, it’s easy to get the ball rolling with unimportant clicks as part of the process.
Eventually, one of those “throw-away” captures will be the brick that allows the hard facade to fall away.
