I Got Your Note

A long time ago, while wandering around in Illinois, I spotted a vintage MG roadster. It looked like it just rolled out of Barrett-Jackson.

I left a note for the owner asking if I might photograph the car sometime. A week later, the phone rang. “Hello Stephen, this is Ned Bradley. I got your note about my MG.”

Professor Bradley invited me to drop by anytime to photograph his car. I took him up on the offer immediately. However, the man was a much better subject than the machine.

He was a retired teacher, polyglot, art collector, and all-around great guy. We hit it off immediately.

This session in his library was the last of three visits that took place over a four-year period.

I’m glad I left that note.
