Holiday, A Favorite

Christmas is here. While I’m now enjoying it immensely, when it’s over I won’t be sad. That’s because this holiday has been around for so long.

I saw my first Christmas tree and light display at Costco in September. Jingle bell songs have been playing since early November. This year has more twinkling lights and decorated exteriors than I’ve ever seen before.

It’s not that I don’t like this holiday. I only want a little proportion.

The template for a perfect holiday is Independence Day. The minimal runup involves laying in BBQ supplies, salty snacks, and fizzy drinks. There’s no need to dress up and there’s no reason to rush around.

A secular holiday based upon the fundamental rights of freedom is what I like the most.

Fireworks aren’t bad either.
