Half Moons of Carbondale

There’s no straight line for driving between Evansville, Indiana and St. Louis. One can choose the rapid and boring interstate route or the tedious two-lane option. With a lot of time on my hands to make my way to Billy Twymon’s place, I opted for the long way.

This path passed through my old college town of Carbondale, Illinois.

Naturally, I stopped in for a university nostalgia tour.

I made it a point to walk by the place where every beginning photo student ends up. It’s an early 70’s brutalist building that has half-moon indentations in the concrete.

It’s like catnip to every kid with a camera, even for an old one like me.
