Hands, brush, and paint.

That’s all you need to make a great work of art.

Right?

I think I may have glossed over a couple of details such as practice, practice, and maybe practice.

Execution may play a part. Inspiration is likely involved. So is the ability to focus.

When I was photographing Carrie Disrud-Joris in her Key West studio, I could see all of those ingredients at play.

It started with her hands.
