After being there in both summer and winter, I can tell you that it’s a completely different city in each season.
Asbury Park is much like Bruce Springsteen’s music.
In July or August when the Jersey Shore is running at full speed it’s crowded, loud and filled with people having a great time. The crowds and places are brightened by the sun. That includes the Wonder Bar.
When I was there for this portrait in March, it was as silent as a tomb aside from the occasional gusts of wind blowing a mix of salt spray and snow flurries. The few people that I saw on the streets were flinty and hard.
I don’t care for cold weather but I appreicate the experiences that seasons bring. Asbury Park is a prime example.
