Good Hood

I can’t help but snicker when I hear the word hoodie. It’s not quite as funny as dickey, but it’s a close second on my list of clothing items that I’ll never wear.

The hoodie phenomena never took hold with me or my contemporaries. It’s not that we are too cool for this look. There are plenty of vintage photos of me in 1970s attire that includes a polyester suit, some appalling corduroys and uneven cutoff jeans that are way more shabby than chic.

My point is that I’m not afraid to make a fashion statement.

A proper hood on a jacket is a different story. It’s functional and can preserve a good hair day even if there’s a hard rain.

If you find yourself on a session in South San Francisco and your subject wants to try a few with a hood on, I suggest giving it a try.
