First to Fall
About this time every year, I notice that a certain tree in my back yard begins to drop its leaves. It always comes as a shock and makes me wonder if there’s something wrong with the tree.
Once I realize that this is part of its life cycle, I snap back to reality. Then I’m hit with the realization that my favorite season of the year won’t last forever.
We’re still a long way from long sleeves and frost. But that will happen.
Knowing that the window of warmth will eventually close focuses my attention on enjoying what I have now. When autumn does roll around I’ll be ready with my attire and hopefully with my camera.
This session with the blazing trees took place on a true Indian Summer day in Chesterfield, Missouri many Novembers ago.
Maybe this year will serve up something similar.
