First Look

Based on my early foundation as a photojournalist, I have the habit of digging into my photographs as soon as I walk in the door from a session.

Some photographers can wait, but I can’t.

My desire to see on screen what I had just recently seen through the camera is an unexplainable desire.

This was the topic of conversation with the artist in the portrait. He makes fine art prints from his own woodcuts in a rustic studio near Henderson, Kentucky.

As soon as he’s finished carving, he’s ready to ink up his press.

I know how he feels.
