Files Not Piles

I was talking to another artist today about the importance of offloading tedious tasks in order to focus on creation. Paperwork and filing are as soul-crushing as they are necessary.

Hiring an assistant or clerk can help, but you don’t want to end up assisting the assistant.

Since these tasks can’t be eliminated, it’s best to optimize for action.

Start with a good filing system. Whether it’s a gas receipt from a gig or an idea for a creative project. Don’t let it sit, put it in its place.

A clean office and desk make for clear creative thinking.

In the end, that’s what matters most.
