Up until recently, Jonathan Sluys was my favorite client that I had never met in person.
A while back, we collaborated on a project based on a referral from one of his colleagues at VSA Partners in Chicago. This gig was ideally suited to my capabilities and artistic inclination.
I had a lot of people to photograph in three states with very little time for completion, not to mention a boatload of expectations from the client and VSA. That said, when your subjects are ready, willing and able to be photographed, there is no chance of failure.
Working with a client like Jonathan, who gave me support and encouragement from his office in Chicago, was the icing on the cake.
We finally broke out from virtual communication to “in real life” when I stopped by his office a few weeks ago at another firm in Chicago appropriately called Breakout Studio.
After all the years of “watching” me work from afar, he was able to observe my craft by being in front of my camera.
It was worth the wait.
