How do you get a shot like this?
First, you have to lace up your shoes and hit the streets. If you think that’s inconsequential, you haven’t fought the artist’s greatest enemy.
One could say that this decisive moment isn’t fancy footwork at all but simply a lucky shot.
I’ll be the first to admit to being lucky. Lucky that I didn’t languish in my Seattle hotel room the day before a hired gig. Lucky that I spent a couple of hours walking around downtown and placing myself in areas where I thought something might happen.
Lucky that I had batteries and room to store 750 photos.
Lucky to have no fear of photographing strangers.
