How good is the (insert popular camera model here)?
Are filters worth buying?
Is this the best Photoshop plug-in ever?
These are some recent headlines from a “clickbaity” photo enthusiast website. It’s called F-Stoppers, and I get the same thrill reading it as supermarket shoppers get with check-out line tabloids.
Yet somehow, I was consumed and persuaded by an article about a “dream” camera. The twist is that this photographer’s fantasy camera is an older one already in his inventory.
It made me think of my primary camera, a two generations old D800E. It’s a solid tool, although I never thought of it as an object of desire. I wonder if the D in D800E stands for dream.
Maybe I should rethink my position. The price for falling in love with something already in the cabinet is unbeatable.
