Count To 30

Let’s count to 30 and see if it changes.

I say this while working on location when things aren’t happening the way I had hoped.

More often than not, it’s related to the wind. Steady winds are tough, gusts are deal-breakers. Waiting for that peaceful moment takes patience.

This session in Bryant Park took place on a typical day in New York. That means lots of people were using the steps to enter from Sixth Avenue.

There’s nothing wrong with incorporating “unpaid extras” in a sidewalk portrait. However, I was looking for something much more empty.

So we waited.

Then we waited again.

On the third pause of 30 seconds, I got what I wanted in the busiest American city.
