Let’s count to 30 and see if it changes.
I say this while working on location when things aren’t happening the way I had hoped.
More often than not, it’s related to the wind. Steady winds are tough, gusts are deal-breakers. Waiting for that peaceful moment takes patience.
This session in Bryant Park took place on a typical day in New York. That means lots of people were using the steps to enter from Sixth Avenue.
There’s nothing wrong with incorporating “unpaid extras” in a sidewalk portrait. However, I was looking for something much more empty.
So we waited.
Then we waited again.
On the third pause of 30 seconds, I got what I wanted in the busiest American city.
