Cool Tools

Makers and creators love their tools.

A great example is mixed media artist Robert Villamagna of Wheeling, West Virginia. His prodigious output of sculpture and other 3D works is helped along by his giant inventory of creative utensils.

Another guy who is crazy for tools is Kevin Kelly. Kevin was the founding editor of Wired Magazine and is currently an elder tech statesman in Silicon Valley.

Earlier this month, Kevin interviewed me for his podcast, appropriately called, The Cool Tools Show.

We talked about my most important items of creativity and how they inform and support my documentary project, Cross Country Camera.

It started with the book, The War of Art by Steven Pressfield and how it helps me overcome artistic challenges. We discussed my current camera, the Fujifilm X100V. It was then onto Photo Mechanic; post-production software. We finished with MagCloud, the digital printing company that I use to print my coffee table books.

Chatting with this legendary thinker was as great as you might imagine.
