As I passed through Lawrence, Kansas last week I made some time to stop for lunch. One place I rejected was called Old Chicago.
I’m not a fan of Italian beef sandwiches, deep-dish pizza, or Old Style beer. While that’s not the totality of cuisine in Chicago, it seems to encompass most of the comfort food. Though in fairness, I didn’t check the menu of this chain restaurant.
It’s hard to think of anything in Chicago being old as it’s the picture of modernity.
The architecture alone puts it in its own league. I guess a cleansing fire goes a long way to hastening progress.
Right now when I think of Chicago, I think cold; not old. This mid-October session proved the point. Chilly ambient temperatures and a bracing wind made the post-session coffee that much more enjoyable.
