You can check the municipal records in Burbank, California and you won’t see a listing for any kind of “official” art installation in the 100 block of South San Fernando Boulevard.
In fact, if you’re not looking down at the sidewalk you’ll miss this gem entirely. I promise you that it’s nearly impossible to look anywhere but straight ahead in this part of Burbank where there’s a visual feast in every direction.
I wasn’t actually looking down but instead, I felt the metal under my shoe as I stepped right on this metal plate while walking to lunch. Fortunately, it didn’t trip me but it did stop me in my tracks.
Sometimes art will trip you up. That is if you’re lucky.
