Get some bricks, mix some mortar and start stacking. The next thing you know, you have a city.
I doubt that there’s ever been a brick census in St. Louis. If there was, the number would be in the hundreds of millions. Maybe more than a billion.
There’s certainly no shortage. Sadly with this abundance, theft of bricks still happens.
Both of my studios were brick-centric. So was my first house. The dominant architectural element of my current house, is a long brick wall that runs indoors and out.
This portrait, created in the South Grand neighborhood of St. Louis, also incorporated the local building blocks. It was a pretty good fit.
