Brick It

There’s a certain charm about brick streets.

But only when the weather conditions are right. Hot bricks, wet bricks or icy bricks aren’t very inviting unless you don’t mind an intermediate stop at the ER.

Brick and cobbles aren’t very safe for high heels or even running at a slow speed while shod in Nikes or Addidas.

Brick streets and sidewalks are tough to maintain. There’s no such thing as a quick repair. They’re also highly resistant to uniformity which means you won’t see perfection.

The noise that car wheels make when that rubber meets the road is unlike anything else.

I love brick for streets and sidewalks for their visual appeal. Having brick as an element of a location portrait is like a secret ingredient that enhances the recipe.
