Behind the Scenes

What’s your favorite way to experience art?

Watching the play while standing in the wings or sitting in a comfy seat in the front row center of the mezzanine?

Hearing an unmixed rough cut straight from the monitors in the booth or listening to an iTunes download through earbuds?

Glancing at a double matted and framed print under reflective gallery light or feeling the tooth of a workprint and being close enough to examine the grain with a naked eye?

I’ve had the good fortune to be an insider for each of these moments.

For many artists, including myself, having an insight into another artist’s process makes the overall appreciation so much stronger.

It also revs up my creative juices to push on with making new work.
