Artistic Recruiting
I was wandering through the subway the other day and ran into another photographer.
Not a real photographer, but a simulation of how a photographer should look as imagined by a consensus of the creatives of a marketing firm.
Sadly, this persona is something that’s rare in the real world.
I’m talking about the very small number of women photographers.
There are simply too few.
I hope that an impressionable girl sees this photograph, not for the marketing message but for the idealized portrayal of this woman as a commercial artist.
Maybe it will inspire her to see the possibilities of an artistic journey that might include a career with a camera.
