There’s plenty of hype in the world of commercial art. I should know since I practiced that hustle at an elite level.

Even though I know that great work is more than enough, it’s hard to turn off the hype machine. Hype is a low-dose poison that doesn’t kill you. But it just makes you ill for no good reason.
