I did something today that I hadn’t done since March. I walked into the public library to pick up a book. A four-month library hiatus might seem trivial, but to me it is not.
Despite the lockdown, I have consumed a lot of ebooks and audiobooks that I borrowed from the same library. I’d be happy to do all of my reading on a digital device but the selection pales in comparison to the print collection.
There’s something that draws me to libraries over and above the books. Nearly every library I’ve ever seen has what it takes to be an extra ingredient for a successful photo session. This portrait was taken in front of the New York Public Library on Fifth Avenue. The day couldn’t have been better. The subject was stellar and the setting added something special.
Art and books, a match made in heaven.
