An Artist’s Armor

If you’ve chosen a path that’s unorthodox or different, I say good for you.

If you’re a square peg in a world of round holes, I know how you feel.

If the conventional wisdom promoted by the majority makes you want to be in the minority, I’m in complete agreement.

If you value individuality over conformity, count me as a soulmate.

These are mere concepts for most people but they’re realities for artists.

Once someone commits to this path and turns away from the establishment world, great things can happen. I know this from experience.

There is another side to this coin. Adversity will be your constant companion should you choose to go this route. In short, it will be very hard and that will always be the case.

This means that you need to keep your complaints to yourself. Cry only in your pillow and don’t invite anyone to your pity party. The fact is that nobody wants to hear about your artistic struggles and trying to make people care is not productive.

You chose this path, now walk it with your head held high.
