It’s hard to ignore the biggest sporting event in one’s country. Sunday’s pomp and circumstance was turned up to 11. Between the ads and the music and the airshow, there was a football game.
When I was a photojournalist, I photographed scores of pro football games while standing just steps away from the action. That might be a factor in my current indifference to televised games.
I still love to catch a live sporting event now and then, especially if it’s an amateur match. It’s even sweeter if I know a player.
The picture of this field in Illinois was the place where my kind of game took place.
The combination of great light, or golden hour, and youngsters playing for the love of the sport was exactly what I like.
